• Rule of Thirds for Eating
Authentic
مَا مَلأَ آدَمِيٌّ وِعَاءً شَرًّا مِنْ بَطْنٍ بِحَسْبِ ابْنِ آدَمَ أُكُلَاتٌ يُقِمْنَ صُلْبَهُ فَإِنْ كَانَ لَا مَحَالَةَ فَثُلُثٌ لِطَعَامِهِ وَثُلُثٌ لِشَرَابِهِ وَثُلُثٌ لِنَفَسِهِ
Ma mala'a adamiyyun wi'a'an sharran min batn, bihasbibni adama ukulatin yuqimna sulbah. Fa in kana la mahala fathuluthun lita'amih, wa thuluthun lisharabih, wa thuluthun linafasih.
"A human being fills no vessel worse than his stomach. A few morsels are sufficient for him to keep his spine straight. But if he must, then one third for food, one third for drink, and one third for air."
